Fasting Instructions

Do not consume alcohol the day of your
procedure.

TWO(2) hours before your
procedure.
 
STOP ALL INTAKE.  Do not drink anything
at all TWO (
2) hours before your procedure.
 That includes water.
Medication
Instructions
To reduce the risk of complications, certain
medications will have to be discontinued
prior to your procedure.   The following is a
list of some of the medications which are
commonly taken that will have to be
stopped before we can perform your
procedure.   Please pay close attention to
these instructions.   If you have taken
these medications prior to your visit, we
may have to reschedule your procedure.

Please stop taking the following
medications for THREE (3) days prior to
your procedure:

ASPIRIN(acetylsalicylic acid)
 - Many over
the counter medications and herbal
supplements contain aspirin.  Please
carefully review the actual contents of the
medications you are taking.
AGGRENOX(Asprin/Dipyridamole)
ANACIN
BC POWDER
BEXOPHENE
BUFFERIN
DARVON COMPOUND
EXCEDRIN
FIORINAL(Butalbital/Aspirin)
GOODY'S
PERCODAN
NORGESIC
NORGESIC FORTE
PERSANTIN(persantine)
SOMA COMPOUND

This is not an inclusive list, other
medications may contain Aspirin, please
review what you are taking and contact
us if you have any questions

PLAVIX(clopidrogel) -
please stop taking
SEVEN (
7) days before procedure.

TICLID(ticlopidine) - Please stop taking
FOURTEEN (
14) days before procedure.
Please contact us for instructions if you are
on any of the following medications:

WARFARIN(coumadin)
HEPARIN
LOVENOX
INSULIN
"How about my regular medications?"

With the exception of the medications listed
above, you may take your regular
medications.   If you are unsure about which
medications to take or not take, please call
our office.   

"Can I take food with my pills?"

Yes.  Please stop eating and drinking 2
hours before your injection.

Diabetes

If you are diabetic, please contact us
prior to your appointment.   It is very
important that you continue taking your
diabetes medications, but they may
require minor adjustments.  If you check
your blood sugars at home, please
perform a check the morning that you
come in.
Sedation

Sedation is rarely used for our
procedures.  If it is, you will need to stop
eating and drinking for 8 hours prior to
the procedure.   Please contact us for
further information about procedures
which may require light sedation.
